In ProgressBrian Beitzel is investigating how video cases may be
used to teach complex concepts. Using the "contrasting cases"
methodology of Schwartz and Bransford (1998), Brian's data (using video
cases) suggest that not all video case activities support learning equally
well—in fact, certain instructional designs with video cases appear
to hinder learning relative to a control condition. Theoretical
analyses of this work are being explored. (March '04)
